How We Met

We were living over 45 miles apart, and it would have been difficult for us to meet organically, in person. Thanks to the power of digital algorithms, we met via the Coffee Meets Bagel app. Our first message must have happened sometime in August. We think our mutual connection was via our friends’ dog! 

1st Date?

Our 1st Date was scheduled, but after Gerard hurt his ankle at a music festival, he asked to reschedule… and Melody agreed.

On October 7, 2018, we met at the Old Pro in Palo Alto—which is unfortunately closed now—in our Niners jerseys to watch football, and have some bar food. The stars might have aligned since we continued to have some coffee, and chatted away into the evening.

(This is why our wedding date is close to our 1st date anniversary!)

Proposal

During the Warriors vs. Suns game on March 30, 2022 at Chase Center, a scoreboard message popped up during half-time:

Melody, You’re music to my ears.

Will you marry me?

Melody was shocked when Gerard got down on his knee with a replica Warriors Championship ring, but she did say yes!
